If it looks too good to be true, chances are it is - and yet, who could resist? Not Shelly. Despite her absolute lack of clairvoyant qualifications, she takes up a job at the Malibu HQ of Zodiac Media, writing predictions for their 24-hour TV station.
Easy work, good money, generous benefits; it seems like the dream job - and who cares if you're taking advantage of people's gullibility? Well, actually, Shelly's a bit uneasy, but Maya, who's an old hand,advises her to make hay while the California sun beats down. |
After a while, though, Shelly's curiosity gets the better of her. Why, she wonders, does Zodiac TV cheerfully employ far more people than it needs? Why are there workmen constantly adding extra bits onto the building? And why does no-one ever get to meet the company's owner, Mr Delgado? Before long, her questions bring her to the attention of her mysterious employer; indeed, he becomes increasingly anxious to answer those questions, and as he unfolds the story of his life and the building around them, the answers grow increasingly uncomfortable to hear...
