If it looks too good to be true, chances are it is – and yet, who could resist? Not Shelly. Despite her absolute lack of clairvoyant qualifications, she takes up a job at the Malibu HQ of Zodiac Media, writing predictions for their 24-hour TV station.
Easy work, good money, generous benefits; it seems like the dream job – and who cares if you're taking advantage of people’s gullibility? Well, actually, Shelly's a bit uneasy, but Maya, who's an old hand, advises her to make hay while the California sun beats down. After a while, though, Shelly's curiosity gets the better of her. |
Why, she wonders, does Zodiac TV cheerfully employ far more people than it could ever need? Why are there workmen constantly adding extra bits onto the building? And why does no-one ever get to meet the company's mysterious proprietor, Mr Delgado?
Before long, her questions bring her to the attention of her mysterious employer; indeed, he becomes increasingly anxious to answer those questions, and as he unfolds the story of his life and the building around them, the answers grow increasingly uncomfortable to hear... |
