Reservoir Dogs

Reviews for the 2001 stage production of Reservoir Dogs, seen on tour in Norwich and Edinburgh.

THE UGLY ONE
Rialto, Brighton, October 2016

"... A brilliant farce, hilarious and fast-moving like all good farce, but also a very pointed morality play. When Lette is ugly, he’s beautiful inside – after becoming irresistible, he turns into a complete bastard.  We had to imagine Lette’s new face, but Robert Cohen handled his emotional transformation over the course of the play with great subtlety. As he gradually made his voice become harder, and straightened his body posture scene by scene, the actor developed from a damaged, insecure individual to become a monster, totally given up to the pursuit of sexual conquest and money. ..."

“... Special mention should go to Robert Cohen as Don John, revelling in his character’s sardonic villainy, from his first disdainful handshake to his final raised eyebrow at the
thought of ‘brave punishments’...”

“
Cohen as performer is as accomplished as he is as writer, delivering the lines with an energy and sense of realism that sometimes seems all too real. His ability to balance the comedic with the tragic is superb, and whilst this hour of Quint is rounded and complete, I craved more”

“If writer-actor-virtuoso Robert Cohen had spent a month telling the story of a New York Jew who dobbed in his Communist pals to the FBI, it would have been absolutely fine by me.”
